What we do
FDCPA
Fair Debt Collection Practices Act
Owing money does not mean giving up your rights. The FDCPA sets clear rules for how third party debt collectors may contact you, and what they can and cannot say.
Speak to an Attorney →Who it applies to
The FDCPA governs third party debt collectors, including collection agencies, debt buyers, and many collection law firms. It applies to personal, family, and household debts such as credit cards, medical bills, and auto loans.
Conduct the law prohibits
Collectors may not harass or abuse you. That includes repeated calls meant to annoy, threats of violence or arrest, obscene language, and calls before 8 a.m. or after 9 p.m. your time.
They may not lie about the amount owed, pretend to be attorneys or government officials, or discuss your debt with your employer, family, or neighbors. They also may not keep pursuing the wrong person.
What you may recover
You may recover actual damages, statutory damages of up to $1,000 per case, and your attorney fees and costs. In many cases we can also work to correct inaccurate collection entries on your credit report.
